Business challenge

At the outset, our clients’ concept was about a program that could be easy to use and that would connect apparel manufacturers with brands.

The manufacturers would post information about products they create in detail and users who are representative of brands would be able to search manufacturers according to certain criteria using filters on the site. They could then view the information about manufacturers’ products more closely.

In addition, we needed to create a content management system for the program, so that the client could easily operate it with the ability to add more items to the filtering on the search page, or change certain things on other pages.

Solution

We started our development process by creating the first pages. For the front-end part of development, we used the provided design for all the pages, and, in that way started working on the coding of the layout right away.

The team combined their efforts, and at the same time, we worked on the back-end and front-end systems, making sure to connect them with the help of the API and checking whether everything was according to the plan in both parts.

Pages that were created gradually step by step were the following:

  • Home-page;
  • General content page;
  • FAQ;
  • Contact page;
  • Sign-up page (for manufacturers);
  • Login page (for manufacturers);
  • Page for initiating password reset;
  • Manufacturer overview page;
  • Manufacturer profile page (view and editing mode);
  • Page for displaying a possible error message;
  • Request for quotation.

Parts of the website designed for manufacturers provided the opportunity for them to register and create a profile card of the manufacturer’s company, including various details such as general description, display of product categories for the company in question and documents about their products, with an option to post a picture in the header of the profile as well.

When manufacturers created their profiles to view, the user visiting the website could search among the profiles on the manufacturer overview page for the results they needed. After also indicating the required category criteria of the apparel on the page, such as Accessories, Sportswear, Hats and other filter categories related to clothing, they could check the filter related to the countries where the manufacturer’s companies are based.

If brands found something interesting for themselves on the website and wanted to contact the administrators, they could write to them either from the Contact page, or placing a direct request via the Request for Quotation page. The latter included filling in fields with basic information, and also indicating the category of a product on the website they were interested in, some descriptions, adding an attachment, preferred currency, preferred shipping method etc.

With the help of this form, users who were representatives of brands could indicate that they would like to communicate further with manufacturers further based on what they liked searching through the website, or they also could just contact the administrators to get to know more about the products on the website.

The front-end part of the website was fully connected to the content management system that was the back-end part. Any changes that the clients would like to make in the structure of pages in the CMS would reflect on the website in the user interface. Using the latest technologies, we tried to make the content management system effective, intuitive and easy to use whenever the clients need to change anything related to the content on the website.

Over the course of the development process, we also made sure that the website had an adapted mobile version that was just as compatible with different browsers, operating systems, and devices as the desktop web version and just as easy to use.

Delivered results

At the end of the project, both front and back-end parts were ready, layout correlating to the design we had and all the functionality working efficiently.

Both brands and manufacturers could find something for themselves on an intuitive and visually appealing website that could connect them with each other and thus, advance their ideas about future products and their manufacturing.
